The Fleet

The Plymouth Pilot uses a displacement hull form, which is renowned for its sea worthiness, overall stability, reliability and minimal maintenance.

Plymouth Pilots are very economical to run, with their long keel and skeg combined with a traditional transom-mounted rudder to give incredible grip on the water. This allows the complete novice to become an expert in a very short time. The Practical Boat Owner reported that “the Plymouth Pilot steers as if on rails with very little need for corrections”.

For the practically-minded home boat builder, we can supply a comprehensive set of Plymouth Pilot mouldings for the 16’, 18’ and 24’. These may be fitted out in a variety of styles, from the basic open motorboat through to a number of cuddy options and the top-of-the-range cabin cruiser version for the 24’ Plymouth Pilot. For details of our mouldings, please see here (hyperlink).

Alternatively, for those who are keen to get afloat without wishing to build their own boat, we can supply a finished boat. These feature the finest craftsmen’s touches, from teak gunwale strakes and varnished timber seats to a wooden spoked steering wheel, giving that comfortable sense of tradition which plays such a large part of the Plymouth Pilots much loved character.
